At Your Own Pace

Unterholz Full Game Download is intended to be a brief, evocative experience featuring numerous sword combat situations and puzzles. The goal is to discover what happened in this desolate copse, find its lost residents, and get to the bottom of it all. For the most part, the mystery is revealed through environmental storytelling. Players can explore the game at their own speed while immersed in a confined semi-open universe. The tale emerges gradually as players advance through the game universe.

The atmosphere and immersion

A combination of diegetic and traditional interfaces, as well as seamless gameplay, create a better sense of immersion throughout the experience. Menus and loading screens will not interfere with your ability to navigate the game world, check your inventory, or read text. Your journey through the woods will be accompanied by carefully crafted and positioned noises and music that have been composed to generate certain emotions.

Attention to detail

I spent around two years working on this game in my spare time. Making the game world as realistic and detailed as feasible was a primary goal during development. There are a few documents in the game that are intended to function as authentic medieval texts in the Pomeranian region during the Middle Ages, where the game takes place. A friend who is a linguist translated it into Early Modern High German, and I utilized an actual 15th century typeface and hand-placed the letters to produce the final texture. The produced document can be inspected from all angles in the game.
