In Whistleblower, you can assume the role of Waylon Park, a software engineer employed by Murkoff who, at the start of Outlast, emailed reporters all across the globe, including Miles. After spending a few weeks at Mount Massive during which he was prohibited from speaking to his wife or children due to stringent security measures Waylon grew to deeply dislike the profit-driven scientists and medical professionals who conduct risky and careless experiments on their victims. Waylon became enraged upon realising how similar those wretched people were to him, which drove him to reveal the corrupt nature of Mount Massive.

Whistleblower narrates the events leading up to Outlast, but it also goes beyond the previous game’s events to depict the last part of Mount Massive Asylum’s history.
