Fortress Stronghold: Crusader was the first “castle sim,” and Crusader 2 is the long-awaited follow up. Stronghold is back after 12 years, this time in the deserts of the Middle East in the year 1189. It has a new 3D engine and Havok Physics makes the castle destruction feel real. Crusader 2 will bring back the original game’s fun, fast-paced gameplay and realistic castle simulation.

Due to its RTS and city-building roots, this new Stronghold will be the definition of old-school real-time strategy. You must use a wide range of deadly troops and damaging siege equipment as a cruel Crusader Knight or an Arab freedom fighter to decide what will happen to the holy lands. You can lead your troops into battle as either Richard the Lionheart or the Sultan of Syria in two historical single-player missions. There are dynamic events like tornadoes and locust swarms that can happen during these campaigns. Take over important oases and run your desert business to become the greatest Lord.

To take over the fight, you’ll need to learn how to control more than 25 different types of units and master their unique skills. The Sergeant at Arms can boost confidence. The Sassanid Knight can charge in, the Archers can fire a hail of arrows, or the deadly Assassin can climb the castle walls. Once you are good at what you’re doing, test your skills in skirmish mode or go to fight online with up to 8 people (with a cap of 4) and AI players. In the best skirmish or multiplayer game ever, you can make teams, pick different AI opponents, and create your own maps.
