The Long Dark Full PC Game is a thoughtful exploration-survival game that forces solo players to think for themselves as they trek through a huge, frozen desert after a geomagnetic disaster. There are no zombies; there are only you, the cold, and all the dangers that nature can bring. WINTERMUTE is The Long Dark’s episodic story mode. It starts with two of the five episodes that make up Season One.

EPISODE ONE Do Not Go Gentle: Bush pilot Will Mackenzie (the player character) and Dr. Astrid Greenwood are split up after a strange flash of light causes their plane to crash deep in the woods of Northern Canada. Mackenzie finds the small town of Milton while desperately looking for Astrid. It is there that he starts to understand how bad this quiet apocalypse really is.

EPISODE TWO Luminance Fugue: Mackenzie gains more lost Astrid in the harsh Winter woods as he looks for her. There’s a chance that a mystery trapper can help find Astrid, but can we trust him. The first two episodes of WINTERMUTE add up to about 15 hours of gaming. Episodes 3 through 5 are part of the game’s price and will be unlocked for free as they come out. It has music by Cris Velasco and performances by Jennifer Hale, Mark Meer, David Hayter, and Elias Toufexis (Episode Three).
