ATotal War Saga: Thrones of Britannia: It is 878 AD, and the English king Alfred the Great has just fought a brave fight at the battle of Edington, stopping the Vikings from taking over. The Norse warriors have settled all over Britain. They are now more careful, but not broken. The country is almost at peace for the first time in almost 80 years.

The kings of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales all feel that a time of change and chance is coming to this sceptered isle. Treaties will be made. There’s going to be war. In a saga that tells the story of the rise of one of the greatest countries in history, there will be events that become legendary.

Kings will rise. One will rule: As a stand-alone Total War game, Thrones of Britannia will challenge you to change a key event in history that will shape the future of modern Britain. You can play as one of ten different groups, and your goal is to build and protect a kingdom to the glory of the Anglo-Saxons, Gaelic clans, Welsh tribes, or Viking invaders. On the most detailed Total War map yet, you can form alliances, oversee growing settlements, raise troops, and start campaigns to take over other countries.

Choose your strategy: There are many ways to win the Grand Campaign. You can aggressively expand your territory through war, become famous through building, advanced technology, and political power, or complete a set of unique goals based on the history of your chosen group. Once that’s done, get ready for a big battle in the late game and the last, Ultimate victory condition.

Explore and conquer the British Isles: Push back the fog of war and see how big Anglo-Saxon Britain really was, from the snowy mountains of Scotland to the orchards and meadows of Kent.
