As an indie firm comprised of two video game fans, we wanted to play a horror video game with dinosaurs, so we decided to make one ourselves. Any feedback is welcome to help us improve, including for upcoming games!

Unknown Tapes is a horror video game that uses the discovered film approach to tell a story about survival in a modern world invaded by dinosaurs. It aims for realism and takes inspiration from Dino Crisis and Outlast.

A story will unfold, with a projected playtime of 2-3 hours from beginning to end.

You are being hunted by dinosaurs, and you will need to hide and avoid making too much noise.

The game takes place mostly at night and includes both outdoor and indoor environments, some of which may seem claustrophobic.

An Infested Urban Environment

Photogrammetry and Unreal Engine 5’s graphics capability have allowed us to build detailed metropolitan scenes. Have you ever imagined walking through a town overrun by dinosaurs?

Real-time Voice Detection

Dinosaurs can hear your voice when you converse or shout in the real world and will react accordingly to what they perceive.

Photogrammetry

We employed the most modern photogrammetry tools to directly include real-world items and locations into the game. Many of the things you see do exist in the real world.
